TDC-Arts (Major) Courses offered

A student is allowed to offer Major in any one of the following subjects :

  • Assamese
  • Bengali
  • Economics
  • Education
  • English
  • History
  • Home Science
  • Hindi
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Mathematics
  • Sanskrit.
Combination of Subjects in TDC Arts(Major)
  1. A candidate may submit one application showing 3 (three) choices of Major subjects in order of preference from the above list. She need not submit two forms indicating different preferences. However, she should submit separate forms for the Arts and the Science streams if she desires to be considered for both the streams.
  2. English and MIL & Alternative English are compulsory for all. In addition, an applicant will be allowed to offer one of the following combinations among the three performances indicated by her in the application form.
  3. A student with a Language Major will have to take an MIL (which is not of the same language in which she has opted for Major) or a subsidiary subject. Thus, for an English Major student the subjects will be: English (Major), English, MIL (in another language, not Alternative English) or a Subsidiary subject, and another Subsidiary subject.

TDC Arts(General) Course

English and MIL/Alternative English are compulsory.

A student offering to study TDC General course has to select two subsidiary subjects from the following list:

  • Economics
  • Education
  • History
  • Home Science
  • Mathematics
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Statistics
  • Psychology
  • Any one of the following elective languages (Assamese,Bengali,Hindi,Sanskrit)

However the following combinations are not permitted :

  1. History with Mathematics
  2. Statistics with Sanskrit & Political Science
  3. Political Science with Home Science
