The platinum Jubilee Celebrations formally began on 16th July, 2014, the foundation day of the college. After the flag hoisting by the Principal Dr. Indira Bordoloi, floral tributes were paid to the founder Principal Rajabala Das and Late R. Handique by the teaching and non- teaching staff of the college. This was followed by other activities.
A Post Graduate classroom for the Assamese Department, constructed under the UGC- CPE Scheme was inaugurated by G.B. member Srimati T. Barua on the 16th July, 2013.
A new students’ Common Room was also inaugurated by Prof. D. Baroowa on the Foundation Day of the college.
Four new classrooms were inaugurated in the Library Building by the Principal Dr. Indira Bordoloi on the same day.
Sri Tarun Gogoi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, graced the inaugural function of the Platinum Jubilee held on 8th August, 2013 as the chief Guest. He emphasized the role of Handique Girls’ College in quality education to women over the years
The Guest of Honour Smt. Ajanta Neog, Hon’ble Minister of PWD released the bi-annual newsletter Handique Herald and recalled some nostalgic moments as a former student of the college and assured the college authorities of her co-operation towards its progress.
Dr. H. B. Sarma, hon’ble MLA & Former Minister of Education & Health inaugurated Spectrum published by faculty Enrichment Cell under the UGC-CPE Scheme. He stressed on student centric education system. Capt. R. Bordoloi MLA East Guwahati also addressed the gathering.
Padmashree Patricia Mukhim delivered the Foundation Day lecture on “Future Directions for Women’s Education in Assam” on 8th August, 2013. Her address was enriching as well as enlightening.

A cultural programme was organized on evening of 8th August, 2013 to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee Year of the college. The programme was inaugurated by prominent alumnus of the college Srimati Sudakshina Sarma. Sand artist Diganta Barua presented a few attractive items.
A National Seminar on Advances in Electronics and Allied Science and Technology was held in the college during August 1-3, 2013. The seminar was organized jointly by the Electronics Scientists and Engineers Society (ESES) and Handique Girls’ College. Several reputed scientists from different parts of the nation participated in the seminar as resource persons and invited guests.
Supreme Court advocate, Priya Hingorani delivered a talk on ‘Legal issues’ on 9th November, 2013. The talk was organized by FLO North East Chapter (FICCI) in collaboration with Handique Girls’ College.
The Department of Physics organized a seminar on Non- Equilibrium Complex systems on 8th February. 2014.
XVIIth Sarat Chandra Goswami Memorial Debate Competition was held during the Platinum jubilee Year (2013-14) at North-East level on 5th February 2014.
On the 3rd February, 2014, a vibrant cultural procession was taken out of from the college premises. The procession was inaugurated by Justice Meera Sarma followed by an Alumni Meet and the faculty members presented a chorus on the occasion.
On 1st November 2014, a special cover was released in the name of Handique Girls’ College at the inaugural function of ASSAMAPEX-14 (a state level Philatelic Exhibition) by Shri BB Dave, Chief Postmaster General, Assam Circle and Dr. Mridul Hazarika, VC, Gauhati University.
