INAUGURAL LECTURE

The Centre for Indian Knowledge System under IQAC, Handique Girls´ College was formally inaugurated on 13th March, 2025. Noted scholar Prof. Amalendu Chakravarty, Former VC, Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai delivered the inaugural lecture. Dr. RanjitSarma, Principal of the college welcomed the guests. Dr. Pori Hiloidari, coordinator, IQAC, HG College announced the establishment of the centre and its entrusted responsibilities in line of its vision and mission. Prof. Chakravarty, in his lecture showered light on the multidimensional perspectives of the century old knowledge system of India and its significance in the current times. Students and faculties of the college alongwith a few students of Cotton University attended the lecture.

CERTIFICATE COURSE ON IKS (CCIKS)

The centre has introduced a Certificate Course on Indian Knowledge System in hybrid mode. This 30 hours course module is designed as per the UGC guidelines. The course is open for UG/PG students, research scholars, faculties, academicians and independent researchers. The course is coded as CCIKS(year/batch).

CCIKS2025: The Certificate Course on Indian Knowledge System2025 is started from 2nd April,2025. 241 participants from different institutions including undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars and faculties of colleges, universities and research institutes from different margins of India registered for the course. The course is completely online. Resource Persons engaged in this course are —

MICRO-RESEARCH FELLOWHIP

The centre initiated Micro-research Fellowship2025 for the students of the college to encourage and promote research on IKS among the students. The aim of this fellowship is to develop research skills and documentation abilities among the students of the college on the various related dimensions of Indian Knowledge Systems from interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives.

For the academic year 2025-2026, the centre called for research proposals from the students of the college. Two proposals are selected for the Micro-research Fellowship2025. The one time grant is of 5000/- Rs. to each of the selected proposals. The selected proposals are –

  • Documentation of Indigenous Household Remedies for Common Ailments : (Student Investigators: Anisha Rudra Paul, M. Chingkhei Nganbi, UG 4th Semester, Dept. Of Home Science)
  • Documentation on Lullabies of Tribal Communities of Assam : (Student Investigators: Liza Chutia, Kongkana Saikia, UG 4th Semester, Dept. Of Education)

 

PARAMPARA: THE ANNUAL JOURNAL OF CIKS

The centre initiates for publication of the Vol. I, Issue I. of PARAMPARA, the annual journal of the centre. The journal is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal. The focused theme and area of the journal is the multidimensional aspects of Indian Knowledge Systems.

BOOK LAUNCH

Jintu Thakuria and Dr. Purabi Goswami, faculties of Handique Girls" College edited an anthology of research articles encompassing multidimensional aspects of Indian Knowledge Systems. The edited book titled ‘Indian Knowledge System: Multidimensional Perspectives" was launched at the college on 19th April,2025. Noted author, scholar Prof. Rakhee Kalita Moral graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The book includes articles authored by scholars and academicians from different universities of India.
