Research Experiences

Ø  Ovariectomy of mice.

Ø  Investigation of antifertility effects of plant extract.

Ø  Plant compound extraction using the Soxhlet apparatus.

Ø  Analysis of compounds using TLC and GC-MS.

Ø  Sperm count technique and ovarian cyclicity testing.

Ø  Investigation on estrogenic effects of chemicals.

Ø  Investigation on the harmful effects of pesticides on living biota.

Ø  Histological techniques (including both laboratory microtome and Cryostat microtome) for different types of tissues.

Ø  Micronuclei assay in blood cells using the blood smear staining technique.

Ø  Handling the single-cell gel electrophoresis (Comet assay) technique.

Ø  Analysis of biochemical parameters (DNA, RNA, Protein, Carbohydrates, Lipids, and Cholesterol in both tissues and blood) and haematological parameters (total WBC, differential WBC, total RBC, Platelet count, Haemoglobin, and Haematocrit) in fish and mammals.

Ø  Water quality testing/analysis.

1. PI in teacher-led-student Research Project under the Research cell of the Handique Girls’ College in 2016 entitled “A study on decomposition and conversion of waste materials of our college canteen into valuable manure through compost and vermicompost method” with two Zoology honors students: Ms.Barsha Das & Ms Janayita Biswa Sarma  

 

2. PI in Teacher-led-student Research Project under the Research cell of the Handique Girls’ College. In 2019, entitled “An investigation on Biochemical and histopathological effects of Rogor in freshwater catfish Clarius magur (Hamilton, 1822)” with four Zoology honors students: Himakshi Tamuli, Jijnyasha Bayan, Neha Sultana, and Keerti Devi.

 

3. PI in teacher-led-student Research Project under the Research cell of the Handique Girls’ College in 2023 entitled “An assessment of water quality along with a comparative study of total Protein, total lipid, DNA and heavy metals in Anabas testudineus in two sites (clean and dumping) of Deepor Beel, Assam”, with four Zoology honors students: Bratati Ray, Bhitumoni Choudhury, Madhurima Devi and Salma Easmin.
