Fig. Alisha Das, Anoushka Baruah and Tahsin Begum, three PG 3rd semester students of the Department of Zoology, successfully completed a one-month (180 hours) internship program, ´Internship and Training Programme on Tools Used in Molecular Biology,´ sponsored by DHR and organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Gauhati University, from June 18 to July 17, 2025.

 


Fig. The inaugural program of the 120 hrs internship for FYUGP 4th-semester students from the Zoology Department of Handique Girls´ College was successfully held on 20th June,2025 at CPBP and FAL, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Assam, Khanapara, Guwahati. The program was being conducted by the Coordinated Poultry Breeding Programme (CPBP) and Feed Analytical Lab (FAL) Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department Govt of Assam. This internship aims to provide first hand experience and entrepreneurship exposure to students in the poultry farming sector. This program was continue till July 18, 2025.

 

 


Fig. Miss Monashree Bhuyan,a FYUGP 4th sem students of Dept. of Zoology undertaking internship in ONGC, Sivasagar, under Prime Minister Internship Program attended and selected to interact with Honourable minister of Corporate affairs, Govt of India, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in Northeast Roundtable on PM internship program at Shillong 10 July, 2025

 

 


Fig. Department of Zoology, Handique Girls´ College and the Zoological Society of Assam (ZSA) came together to celebrate "World Mosquito Day", 20th August, 2025 at Panbazar Higher Secondary School! The theme "*Accelerating the Fight Against Malaria for a More Equitable World" was the focus of insightful talks by Dr. Santana Saikia and Miss Lupamudra Borah, highlighting students´ crucial roles in preventing mosquito-borne diseases. Interactive sessions led by Dr. Evarani Kalita, Dr. Abhinit Dey, Dr. Anuradha Kalita, and Miss Papori Borah, along with UG and PG students, featured fascinating slides of mosquitoes and parasites, engaging HS students and promoting awareness about these diseases.

Fig. A Seminar was held among 5th sem students to present their Internship work details on 13/9/2025. External evaluator of the seminar was Dr. Manashi Kalita Hazarika, Associate Professor, Dept of Botany

 

 


Fig. A 2-day workshop on Computational Biology has been organized for MSc 1st Sem students on 15th & 16th September 2025. The teacher incharge were Dr Anuradha Kalita, Ms. Papori Deka, and Ms. Lupamudra Borah

 

 


Fig. The Department of Zoology celebrated World Ozone Day on 16/9/25 by organising a poster-making competition among the college students. A total of 16 students took part in the event. The competition was judged by Dr. Madhurima Hazarika Choudhury, Vice Principal and Associate Professor, Dept of Political Science and Mr. Jayanta Kumar Manta, Associate Professor, Dept of Botany. Winners are awarded with certificates and medals.

2nd position: Ms. Bhagyashree Dohotia, 5th sem, Dept of English and
Ms. Kirtijeeta Baishya, 5th sem, Dept of Economics.

 

3rd position: Ms. Sonia Barman, 1st sem, Dept of Assamese and
Ms. Sayanika Mech, 1st sem, Department of Mathematics.

Fig. The Department of Zoology, Handique Girls´ College, organized a successful parent-teacher meet on 15th Nov, 2025, Saturday. Parents of the students attended the event and interacted with the faculty members. They shared their views and appreciated the facilities provided by the department. The meet aimed to bridge the gap between parents and teachers, fostering a collaborative approach to student development. The event concluded on a positive note, with parents expressing satisfaction with the college´s efforts. The department looks forward to continued interaction with parents.
